• Right to Reside in a Shared Household
A woman has the right to live in the matrimonial or shared household, regardless of whether she holds any title in the property.
• Right to Protection Orders
A magistrate can pass orders prohibiting the abuser from committing violence, communicating with the victim, or entering her workplace.
• Right to Medical and Legal Aid
The state is bound to provide free legal aid and immediate medical assistance if required by the aggrieved woman.

- Keep your essential documents (Aadhar, passport, bank details) and some emergency cash accessible.
- Document injuries through photographs and seek immediate medical attention.

- Do not sign any property or divorce papers under coercion.

Authority: Protection Officer (PO) / Local Police
Process: File a Domestic Incident Report (DIR) with a PO or the police, who will forward it to the Magistrate to initiate legal proceedings for protection, maintenance, or custody.
