Corruption & Bribery

Whistleblower protections and reporting to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Your Fundamental Legal Rights

Right to Report

Every citizen has the legal and moral right to report demands for bribes by public servants to the respective State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Whistleblower Protection

The law provides mechanisms to protect the identity of individuals who expose corruption in government bodies.

What to Do (Immediate Actions)

  • Secretly record audio/video of the official demanding the bribe, if safely possible.
  • Contact the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) immediately. They often set up 'traps' to catch corrupt officials red-handed.
  • Submit a formal complaint to the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the concerned department.

What NOT to Do

  • Do not pay the bribe and become complicit in the crime.
  • Do not confront the official about reporting them before contacting the authorities, as they may destroy evidence.
